You asked for it? You got it! The Hidden Hollow weekend Star Party at Warren Rupp Observatory is back. Enjoy premier Ohio dark skies, food, fun, fellowship and the incredible views through the 31" Observatory scope!

Guest Speakers

Stephen James O'Meara: Stephen is both a volcanologist and the author of the "Eyes On The Skies" column for Sky and Telescope. We look forward to his visit!

Brent Archinal: Brent is a professional astronomer who is also a planetary geodesiest. As an honorary life-long member of Richland Astronomical Society at Warren Rupp Observatory, Brent will be "back in town" to tell us about his work with Huygens.

Terry Mann: It is our very great pleasure to once again welcome the Astronomical League Vice-President, Terry Mann who will be giving us a presentation on aurora.

Nate Cardarelli: A retired radiation/biophysicist, Nate holds the patent on the material used to construct the Apollo spacesuits. This fascinating gentleman knew the astronauts personally and his insights are highly entertaining!

Barb Hubal: From the Black River AstronomySociety, Barb holds an BS in Chemistry and a MS in Polymer Science and a Masters in Library & Information Science. Her love is studying the planets and taking astrophotos. Her presentation will be on "Safe Solar Viewing" and "The Venus Transit".

Jason Shinn: As a participant in the Radio JOVE project, Jason will be discussing his involvement with the project and we'll be "listening"!

About The Star Party...

There will be primative lodging available in the bunkhouses, as well as camping on the Observatory grounds. The fee is included in registration and is first come, first served. If you chose not to stay, there are many fine motels and restaurants located within just a few miles of Hidden Hollow. This year we'll provide food services and many fine vendors such and University Optics. Door prizes? You know it!


The cost for this year's Hidden Hollow event will be $40 per person (non-refundable). If you wish to attend, you will need to pre-register and pay at that time. On-line information is now available at and registration opens on June 15. Bring your scopes, bring your friends, bring your Club! The scenery is great, the views through the Observatory scope incredible and the folks even better. Join us for a great weekend!!
