On May 6, the Evansville, Indiana will celebrate Astronomy Day (Honorable Mention Award Winner 2005) with numerous activities, presentations and events. Activities that are planned will engage young visitors with crafts related to recent missions and learn about the basics of astronomy, our solar system, and the constellations.
The Evansville Museum will be offering planetarium shows throughout the day featuring the show "Comets Are Coming", our live star show "The Sky Tonight".
Outdoor daylight activities will feature members of the Evansville Astronomical Society, who will provide telescopes to view the sun while sharing their expertise with the public. The Evansville Museum's 1 to 600,000 Scale Model of the Solar System will also be on display.
As the sun sets in the west, area residents are invited to participate in our Neighborhood Star Watches (Best New Idea Award in 2004).
