CONSTELLATIONS
MESSIER OBJECTS
GALAXIES

Stephen's Quintet - A galaxy group in Pegasus

HEAD INTO DEEP SPACE...

Time to go explore strange new worlds...to seek out new life and new civilizations...to boldy go where no man has gone before!

This is the Andromeda Galaxy! Beautiful, isn't it?
And just one of the many fascinating Messier Objects that can be located using a telescope!

M51 - The "Whirlpool" Galaxy ...located in Canes Venetici

M64 - The "Blackeye" Galaxy ....in Leo

WARNING!!! Infomation Overload!!!

I have been wanting to insert some information in this "space" (pardon the pun) to help you along on
your tour! But...like all things...requires a great deal more work to bring it to you! So....for the
time being...allow me to insert a list of links that
will help you to "browse" your way around the
farthest reaches of outer space!

NEBULAE

Observing Nebulae...

There are many awe-inspiring nebulae located within the constellations...just begging to be hunted down with the amateur telescope! There are two types of nebule: Diffuse - a region of interstellar gas clouds forming star birth... Planetary - the ejecta of a dying star....

M8 - The "Lagoon" Nebula ...in Saggitarius (diffuse)

OK...until I can create enough "space" to be a bit more comprehensive here...allow me a list of links that can be explored to help you navigate your way in the night sky!

M17 - The "Swan" Nebula ....in Saggitarius (diffuse)

M27 - The "Dumbbell" Nebula ...in Vulpecula (planetary)

M57 - The "Ring" Nebula ....in Lyra (planetary)

STAR CLUSTERS -
OPEN AND GLOBULAR

Observing Star Clusters....

There are two types of star clusters...and both are self-explanatory. A globular cluster is a mass of stars that holds a dense pattern. An open cluster is either a group of several...or hundreds! of stars arranged in an informal pattern.

M13 - The "Great Hercules" Cluster ...in Hercules (globular)

M11 - The "Wild Ducks" Cluster ...in Scutum (open)
